Prices for the new B-Class, on sale in March 2012, have been announced. The entry-level B180 SE, with a 120bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged engine returning 47.9mpg and 138g/km of CO2, costs from £21,290. That's compared to £17,195 for the cheapest Ford C-MAX.
Upgrade to Sport trim, which adds 18-inch wheels, sports suspension, run-flat tyres, leather upholstery and variable ratio steering, and the B180 costs £22,060. The B200, fitted with the same petrol engine but tuned to 154bhp, is available in Sport trim only and costs £23,995.
The cheapest diesel and the most economical model is the 107bhp B180 CDI, capable of returning 64mpg and 115g/km of CO2. It costs £22,060 in SE and £23,360 in Sport spec. The range-topping 134bhp B200 CDI weighs in at £23,410 in SE and £24,710 in Sport.
A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, but a reworked seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is a £1,450 option on all models. Other options include sat-nav (£495), a panoramic sunroof (£1,195) and 3G internet connection (£1,995).
