Chevrolet has revealed that the new Suzuki Swift-rivalling Aveo will cost from just £9,995.

Set to arrive in January, the entry-level price-tag gets you an LS model equipped with central locking, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, electric front windows and a CD player. Power comes from a 1.2-litre engine with 84bhp.

Pay £10,995 and you can upgrade to an LT model which comes with air-con, steering wheel-mounted controls, Bluetooth and a trip computer.

Range-topping LTZ models – costing from £12,195 – come with automatic headlights, rear parking sensors, a leather steering wheel and fog lamps. LTZ variants are only available with the 100bhp 1.4-litre engine or 94bhp 1.3-litre diesel unit.

Chevrolet also offers an LT Ecodiesel model which claims tax-free CO2 emissions of 95g/km and costs £12,795.

NOT WANTED ON BOARD

Why don't car manufacturers realise that in low cost cars, many of us don't want electric mirrors, heated mirrrors, electric windows, automatic this and automatic that - they all go wrong in time! As for Bluetooth etc leave it off and chop the price. Dacia seem to do it right.

@daveroan To be quite honest if you want a car without all the tech, then you should be looking second hand, why would you buy a new car with nothing on it when you can get a second hand car with nothing on it and adequate mileage? Getting a new car is supposed to be about getting what you can'y get out of second hand.

Give me a basic car anytime

I agree with daveroan manufacturers should provide a basic version of their cars no metalic paint, no aircon, no bluetooth, no traction control, no stability programme( these latter ones coming under the new mot, with reported repair costs of £1000+).But if your car is not fitted with them it still passes.

I just want a new eco friendly car that gets me from A to B, is easy to repair myself, economical, cheap to run and not ladened down with usless gadgets ( ABS is the exception) and not at a rip off price.
As for danielcrawford comments, so on secondhand cars they remove all the techy stuff do they, please tell me a car they do this too, as all the secondhand cars i have seen usually have the same spec as new ones. If you want to pay thousands more for your car thats your choice, but I prefer to keep the cash in my pocket.
