The Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel edition has been confirmed for production. Originally unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year, the Vettel Edition gets design and engineering upgrades over the 385bhp FX50s.

The 5.0-litre V8 has been tweaked to produce 414bhp and is fitted to a car described as “the most focused and exclusive sports crossover ever built”. Infiniti Executive Vice President Andy Palmer said, “It’s about our equivalent of AMG or M Cars.”

Also among the upgrades is a new aerodynamic bodykit developed by Infiniti in partnership with Red Bull Racing. That should allow for stable handling at the Vettel’s top speed of 186mph.

Andy Palmer went on to say, “Sebastian’s FX demonstrates we are able to do low volume specials and the FX Sebastian Vettel version is one of the first that will go to market”. No further details on availability and pricing have been revealed.

Vettel's not that big. I remember him on Top Gear and Clarkson was much taller than him. Having said that, this thing does look big, but also better looking than anything from the big three German marques, and Porsche. Will no doubt be exclusive as well. I wonder how it will stack up performance wise against the M & AMG models. No doubt will only be purchased by those who have wandered away from the flock.

And performance I meant 0-62 and in gear acceleration. I would expect the XM5/6 and Porsche should be able to eclipse the top speed if delimited. Still looks good though.
