Jaguar has revealed a pair of option packs for its luxurious XJ. The first, the Sport Pack, adds visual tweaks inside and out, while the Speed Pack lifts the electronic limiter on the supercharged model, allowing it to hit 174mph flat-out.
The Sport Pack is available across the range and adds an aerodynamic splitter under the front bumper and an extended boot lip spoiler. A gloss black mesh finish is apllied to the front grille, while the lower air opening and side vents get the same treatment. Red brake callipers are also added behind 20-inch Venom alloy wheels.
Inside, the front seats are upgraded to Performance versions, with heavier bolstering, softgrain leather and a huge range of adjustment. Stainless steel pedals, engraved with the Jaguar name, and carbon-fibre trim finish of the look.
Although the Sport Pack can be ordered with the twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 diesel, 3.0-litre V6 petrol and naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 models, only on the flagship 503bhp supercharged V8 model can it be combined with the Speed Pack. This lifts the limiter, allowing the car to power on to 174mph, where the aerodynamic tweaks play a vital role.
"A car capable of 174mph must have certain basic attributes – stability, aerodynamics, prodigious power and as little weight as possible. The XJ is blessed with all these qualities in abundance and with the addition of the Speed Pack it becomes an ever more impressive performance saloon," said Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, vehicle integrity.
