Mercedes has announced the price for the new SLK55 AMG, and it’s set to cost from £54,950.
The fastest SLK in the line-up is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.5-litre V8 engine that produces 415bhp and 540Nm of torque. That allows for a 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
Despite the supercar performance, Mercedes has also managed to cut emissions by 30 per cent over the old model, thanks to cylinder deactivation technology – a lot like the set-up in Audi’s A1 Sportback. Fuel economy stands at 33.6mpg and CO2 emissions are 195g/km.
Included as standard is leather upholstery, a DAB digital radio and 18-inch alloy wheels, but buyers can specify an AMG Performance Package for £4,105 that includes revised suspension, larger brakes and a limited slip-diff.
The Mercedes SLK55 AMG is available to order now.
