Mitsubishi will be bringing an all-new concept to the
Geneva Motor Show in March and the new model is set to preview the next-generation of Mitsubishi cars, particularly the new Outlander.
From the shadowy teaser shot we can just make out the Japanese firm’s new family face, that appears to be a development of the styling seen on the Concept PX-MiEV. Two bold chrome bars sit either side of Mitsubishi’s trademark badge while sculpted body panels and intricate headlights complete the look.
Mitsubishi hasn’t provided any details on what kind of car the concept will be, but has said that it forms the basis for the company’s ‘Jump2013’ business plan. That includes adding more plug-in and electric vehicles as well as expanding the SUV line-up in emerging markets.
With that in mind it’s likely the Geneva-bound concept will be a plug-in hybrid SUV that will heavily inspire the look and powertrain of the next Outlander.
The PX-MiEV concept was a plug-in hybrid that mated a 1.6-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and was capable of over 140mpg and it’s likely that Mitsubishi’s latest concept will boast a similar set-up.
More details on the newcomer will be revealed nearer to its unveiling in March.
