From next month both the Ford Fiesta and Fusion will be available with the firm's four-speed Durashift auto gearbox. A computer constantly readjusts the box's settings to suit driving conditions.

Mated to a 1.6-litre engine, it gives both cars a 0-60mph sprint time of 11.7 seconds. The Fiesta is priced at £12,120, while the Fusion costs £12,425.
