Super Swede Up To Record Speed

Although Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg has been highly praised for its CC8S supercar, the firm isn't resting on its laurels.

11th March 2004

It claims its new version (image) will be the fastest production car ever, with a top speed of over 242mph.

Called the CCR, it uses the same supercharged 4.7-litre V8 as the CC8S, but has been tuned to produce 806bhp instead of 655bhp. The CCR has a 0-60mph sprint time of 3.2 seconds - 0.3 seconds quicker than its sibling. If the top speed is confirmed, the newcomer will beat the current record holder, the McLaren F1.
