X-tra Style And Kit For BMW X5

New car buyers after a luxury 4x4 should hold fire until BMW has launched its restyled flagship X5 4.8is. The off-roader will be powered by a 4.8-litre V8 unit producing 360bhp and 500Nm of torque.

15th March 2004

Fitted with a standard six-speed auto box, the SUV returns 20.9mpg and sprints from 0-60mph in 6.1 seconds. It delivers a top speed of 153mph. The model also features reshaped bumpers, and will cost ΂£57,450 when deliveries start in May.

At the same time, the entire X5 range will get a boost with some new standard kit. Along with a low tyre pressure warning system, all versions will feature a new Brake Force Display system, which illuminates extra rear lights under heavy braking.
