MINI's general manager Trevor Houghton-Berry said: "There has been huge interest in the Convertible since it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, and we think this will grow once customers compare its price with the competition."
Unlike their tin-topped siblings, all Convertible models will come with a remote control alarm, the ISOFIX child seat fixing system and parking distance control as standard. Meanwhile, One models also get a rev counter at no extra cost. The soft-top will come with its own unique range of fabric
and hide upholstery, although the all-leather interior, previously only available on the Cooper S, can be selected as an option too.
Despite losing metalwork, the Convertible weighs 100kg more than the hatchback version, due to the electric hood mechanism and extra chassis strengthening required to compensate for chopping the roof off. As a result, 0-60mph sprint times are down slightly. The One makes it in 11.8 seconds, while the Cooper Convertible is two seconds quicker.
