4x4 Advert Ruled 'Unfair'

A Subaru ad has been slammed for comparing the performance of petrol models against diesels. Figures in national newspaper ads for the petrol Forester 2.0 XT were quoted against oil-burning versions of the Land Rover Freelander and Toyota RAV4.
Industry watchdog the Advertising Standards Authority refuted claims the comparisons were fair because all three had 2.0-litre engines and five doors! The ad campaign has now ended.
