Minicabs could be headed for the endangered species list. A national driver shortage is so bad that industry chiefs are calling it a crisis. It follows the introduction of rules forcing those interested in running a minicab to undergo a criminal record check. This move has led to more than 25 per cent of existing drivers failing to reapply for their permit.
