Storming New 911 Blasts Off At Show

Performance car fans will head to the Porsche stand at this week's British Motor Show as the German firm pulls the wraps from one of the most powerful 911s ever built.

26th May 2004

The limited-edition Turbo S makes its world debut in Hall 6 in coup΃© and cabrio form. Its 3.6-litre engine develops 450bhp and promises better responses with improved in-gear acceleration. Offering 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds and a 191mph top speed, the car is revealed as a sign-off to the current 911, the 996 series. The new 997 goes on sale in September. The improved performance over the standard Turbo comes courtesy of larger blowers and a revised engine management system.

Other modifications include an uprated six-speed gearbox, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) and special dark olive metallic paint. But the upgrades don't come cheap - the Porsche Turbo S Coup΃© costs ΂£99,300 and the Cabriolet ΂£105,030.
