Clever Way To Keep Your Cool

There's no need to reach for the air-con if you're hot - as long as your car has a thermal-imaging camera.

Fitted into the dash, it's trained on the driver and senses when they are too hot or cold. It will automatically adjust the temperature accordingly.

The cool idea (image) is the work of UK science firm Qinetiq, and can also detect if you are sitting close to the wheel. It will be used in the US where new laws require cars to detect the driver's position for safer airbag use.
