Hummer's 'Baby' Boom

It's big, brash and ready to do battle with Land Rover in the rough stuff. This is Hummer's new 'small' SUV but, as our picture in this week's issue shows, the forthcoming H3 Station Wagon is anything but tiny.

01st June 2004

It's the car GM bosses hope will give Hummer sales a much-needed boost, following a downturn in the US. And despite engineers' best attempts to disguise the newcomer as a pick-up, the rear end is geared towards family use.

The H3 will be powered by a new 4.3-litre straight-six engine delivering 260bhp. It goes on sale next year and will cost the equivalent of ΂£20,000 in the US. General Motors has no plans to bring it here, but expect to see some coming to Britain through specialist importers, priced at around ΂£30,000.
