'Twelve Feet Wide' is a new campaign to boost the width of main UK motorways in a bid to cut congestion. It's been launched by a conglomerate of powerful transport organisations - including the AA and RAC - who reckon the move would increase safe capacity by a third. They want the Government to support road-widening schemes in its long-term plans. Targeted routes include the M1, M4, M6, M25 and M62.
