Live Show Is A Brit Hit!

The live action format for the new-look British Motor Show has been a huge success and is here to stay. That's the view of the organisers, who are already working on making the 2006 event bigger and better.

Official NEC attendance figures will be released next week, but there are early reports on the interactive elements. More than 150,000 people enjoyed the Motropolis Live Action Arena stunt show, while 1,000 motorists a day got behind the wheel for the Taster Test Drive. Over 6,000 teenagers had their first experience in a car at the BSM Driving School, and the 4x4 Course took 50,000 passengers through the rough stuff. A show spokesman said: "The combined mileage on these is enough to go almost twice round the world. Our 2006 expo will build on this success and establish it as the benchmark for global automotive shows."

Meanwhile, there's news from the stands on vehicle orders. Noble bosses said they were "over the moon" with the 35 deposits they took for the ΂£75,000 M14. "We knew that it would be popular, but this surprised us," admitted a spokesman. Deliveries will start in March. And Daihatsu revealed a one-off white Copen shipped over from Japan specially for the show has proved so popular that many more have been ordered.
