Importer On The Right Truck?

Massive American pick-ups aren't the most practical vehicles for the UK, not least because they're left-hand drive. But a new Manchester company is aiming to change that - and was setting out its stall at the British Motor Show.

14th June 2004

American Pick-up Trucks specialises in converting imported Dodge Rams and Ford F-150s to right-hand drive. "We're dealing with lifestyle pick-ups rather than workhorses and intend to do eight a week," said boss Robert Griffiths.

Each conversion will take about a fortnight to complete, and adds ΂£6,000 on to the cost of the standard model. That means a Ford F-150 Lightning can be yours for ΂£42,295, while a Dodge Ram SRT-10, which shares its 8.3-litre V10 engine with the Dodge Viper, will set you back ΂£61,100. The firm will also convert used vehicles for ΂£7,000. "We expect people like footballers to buy our cars," added Robert.
