Wonder Cart To End Car Park Dings

Dents and scratches that mysteriously appear on your vehicle in the supermarket car park could soon be a thing of the past. South African firm Supercart has invented an all-plastic shopping trolley, and after successful trials in its home market, bosses plan to sell it in the UK.

28th June 2004

The new trolley, which holds 225 litres of groceries, is expected to appeal to supermarket firms as it's less likely to damage customers' cars. This is because the light weight and forgiving plastic structure help minimise impact damage.

Supercart boss Mike Wolfe added that the trolley is also less likely to run out of control in the first place. "Research in other countries has shown nine out of 10 consumers prefer the plastic Supercart over the old wire trolleys," he said.
