Cut-price Cover Set To Take Fight To AA

A new company is aiming to become the easyJet of the car breakdown market. NCI Vehicle Rescue is going head-to-head with the AA and RAC by offering cut-price cover which reflects the risk associated with an individual policy.

Co-founder Neil Richards-Smith said: "Our cover can be car-based or we can offer personal membership. After all, why should someone with a three-year-old model pay the same as someone whose vehicle is 10 years old?" The company does without its own vehicles and technicians, relying instead on more than 4,000 independent operators.

Joint comprehensive cover for a single vehicle less than five years old begins at ΂£74.99. The AA, which covers the individual rather the vehicle, offers a similar package for ΂£124; the RAC charges ΂£103.
