107 Warms Up

The current issue of Auto Express magazine has the world's first pictures of the new 107 - the replacement for the 106 - which will join the range next year as an entry-level model.

01st July 2004

It's not to be confused with the forthcoming 1007, based on the S΃©same concept from the 2002 Paris Motor Show. While the mini-MPV will go on sale later this year, the car seen in the mag will be a conventional supermini based on the same platform as the next Toyota Yaris. Both will be built at a new factory in the Czech Republic, paid for by Peugeot, Citroen and Toyota.

The 107 is a direct replacement for the 106, which was discontinued in 2003, and will be designed to take on Britain's best-value city cars. These include the forthcoming Volkswagen Fox, also due in 2005 as a Lupo replacement. Peugeot's trademark headlamps will be the most prominent feature, while a large glass area should help to make the cabin feel spacious.
