Italy introduced a law on 1st April requiring drivers of broken down vehicles to wear a reflective safety jacket when they leave the vehicle at night or when visibility is poor and Spain will enforce a similar law from 24 July. Non jacket wearers will face an on-the-spot fine of up to 138 Euros in Italy and up to 90 Euros in Spain.
