Civilian Cop Cars A 'Dummy' Idea

A police force has been accused of conning the public into thinking there are more officers on the roads. West Mercia constabulary is making civilian workers drive liveried vehicles, but which don't have the force badge.

Unions have attacked the 'dummy' patrol cars. They fear the public will expect workers to act as police officers. A spokesman for the force said: "It's a way for us to highlight the work civilians do."
