5-Series Sports A Racy Look

Want the looks of the new BMW M5, but can't quite run to the asking price? The virtually identical 5-Series Sport could be the answer. Available in saloon or Touring guises, both feature new front and rear bumpers, a revamped front valance with wider air intake, flared side sills and 18-inch alloys.

Inside, there's part-leather and aluminium-effect trim - but this isn't just a styling exercise. The models get M Sport suspension, plus recalibrated dampers and stiffer springs. Sport prices range from ΂£29,550 for the 520i saloon to ΂£46,525 for the 545i Touring.

Meanwhile, the firm has announced prices for the forthcoming 630i and 535d. The 6-Series Coup΃© costs ΂£45,225 and the Cabrio is ΂£50,655, with the oil-burning flagship 5-Series at ΂£36,575.
