Shanghai Automotive, the Chinese firm that's in partnership with MG Rover, has bought Korean company SsangYong. But any chance of a Rover off-roader has been ruled out: when the Midlands maker was split from Land Rover in 2000, it agreed not to build a competing 4x4.
