This picture also reveals that stylists have stuck to their original plan to make the new drop-top a four-seater - a layout that was initially piloted on the Paris Motor Show concept exactly two years ago. That will mean interior space is compromised, but the inclusion of two occasional rear seats could give the Micra the edge over the Tigra.
Technical details remain under wraps, but entry-level models are expected to be powered by Nissan's 98bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine, with other variants using a 1.6. A diesel, featuring the Micra's frugal 80bhp 1.5-litre dCi unit, has not been ruled out, but engineers would have to ensure minimal noise levels for driving with the top down. To compete with the Vauxhall, the C+C is likely to cost from around £13,000 when it goes on sale in the UK next year. Expect a debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Meanwhile, Nissan's off-roader range will expand at the Paris expo later this month. The Pathfinder SUV will make its European debut alongside a revised Patrol and the Murano - the latter also getting its premiere on the Continent.
