Cops Hail Brit's New Knockout Lock-out

A crack police team has been beaten by a new car security device that was the brainchild of a bodyshop boss. Officers from the Thames Valley force spent 15 minutes trying to break the innovative door lock protector before admitting defeat.

Now, insurance industry research centre Thatcham has given the Repeller a prestigious rating - and inventor Andy Mills, of Bletchley, Bucks, has started selling it. The stainless steel plate is glued and screwed to the car door, and prevents thieves piercing the metal with a screwdriver or spike, then popping open the lock. Andy came up with the idea when his Rover Metro was broken into. He has raised ΂£70,000 over five years to get the device to this stage.

Sales of the ΂£49.95 Repeller are growing daily. "Unfortunately, most customers come to us only after they have suffered a break-in," said Andy, adding that car makers were interested in offering it as an option. Call 01908 370108 for more details.
