Ford Unwraps Focus Estate, Too

Just when you thought you'd seen all there is to see of the new Focus, there's more! As Auto Express magazine went to press, this teaser shot of the estate - keeping the important back end hidden - was released by Ford.

02nd September 2004

And as our spy shot revealed in issue 820, the blue oval has created a more stylish load-lugger for this second generation of the car.

Designed to boost sales of the estate, the new shape gives a lower stance on the road than either the hatchback or saloon models.

Customers won't be disappointed with the practicality, either. The luggage bay offers 475 litres of cargo space, but that expands to 1,525 litres with the seats folded flat. And the roofline is higher above the rear seats, which means extra headroom for passengers in the back. Engines for the load-lugger will be shared with the rest of the range, so expect 1.4, 1.6 or 2.0-litre petrol units alongside the 1.6 and 2.0-litre diesel motors. The car goes on sale with the rest of the line-up in January.
