Ford Faces Scrap As It Crushes To Axe The TH!NK

Controversy is raging over Ford's plans for its ageing fleet of innovative TH!NK electric vehicles. The blue oval stopped production in 2002, and now there's uncertainty about what will happen to the 1,000 Norwegian-built cars.

02nd September 2004

The original three-year leases for the cars have begun to expire worldwide, and eco-protesters are concerned Ford will scrap the 400 models sent to the US.

Under US law they can't be driven on public roads after the agreement ends. However, this rule doesn't affect the 24 cars on lease to UK firms. A Ford spokesman said no decision had been taken on their future.
