Child Crash Law Slammed By AA

Plans to make drivers who knock down a child liable, even if the victim ran into the road without looking, have been attacked by motoring groups.

New laws would enable bereaved parents to sue the motorist, and complying with the speed limit wouldn't be a defence.

The AA told us it had "major reservations" about the Government proposal. "It will force up insurance, so more drivers won't get cover," said a spokesman.
