Poor children are more likely to be killed in road accidents than rich ones, says new research. However, as they start driving, the trend is reversed - they show better skill at the wheel because they have more road experience.

That's according to top Edinburgh safety expert Dr David McGuigan. His re-search shows less well off kids are at risk as they are often looked after by siblings rather than parents.
