Ultimate Vanquish S Set To Power In

Blink and you'll miss it! This is the first and only picture of Aston Martin's fastest-ever production model, the Vanquish S. The 6.0-litre V12 supercar has 520bhp - an increase of 60bhp over the standard version - and is capable of more than 200mph.

22nd September 2004

The visual changes are subtle, but a larger grille and new front spoiler identify this as the more powerful variant. At the back, a redesigned bootlid provides improved aerodynamics over the existing car. Traditional Aston-style leather upholstery, combined with modern metallic detailing, features in the cabin. As with the regular Vanquish, customers can opt for either a two-seat or 2+2 layout.

Beneath the smooth aluminium panels, the S gets stiffer suspension and uprated brakes to cope with the extra performance. Those changes mean the new car sits 5mm lower on its lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels.
Modifications to the engine have given the newcomer a 0-60mph sprint time of 4.8 seconds - that's 0.2 seconds faster than the standard Vanquish.

Prices have yet to be announced, but expect a slight increase over the existing ΂£167,000 model. However, buyers will get a day of free driving tuition at Millbrook, Bedfordshire, Lommel in France or Michigan, USA, included in the price.
