UK Faces Fight For The Right To New Charger

This is the first official picture of the all-new Dodge Charger - but don't get too excited. The word from bosses is that it's one of two new American cars that won't be built in right-hand-drive form. The original Charger was first launched in 1966, but is most famous for starring in Eighties TV show The Dukes Of Hazzard.

Even though the Dodge brand is set for launch in Europe next year, a spokesman for parent firm Chrysler said: "At the moment, the Charger is for North America only. There's no word on right-hand drive, or even if it's coming to Europe at all."

Meanwhile, the Chrysler 300C Touring estate isn't going to be RHD, either. "If there's demand for left-hookers, we might bring some cars here in early 2006," the spokesman added.
