Volvo's Coupé Charges In For Shock Debut

Three is the magic number for Volvo. This is the 3CC, and it's the shape of things to come from the Swedish firm.

Unveiled in China this week, it's the size of a two-seater sports car, but has a 2+1 configuration, with a pair of front seats and a rear bench offering space for an adult or two children. It's powered by an electric motor that gives a 0-60mph time of around 10 seconds, a top speed of 85mph and a range of 180 miles.

The doors open by swinging upwards to reveal a 'floating' dashboard, which slides forward and back to aid cabin access. Instead of conventional switches, there are sensors to operate the stereo and climate control. When the driver's finger gets within half a centimetre of the sensor, the systems are activated.
