Rehab Schemes Voted A Success

Drink-drive offenders who don't go on rehabilitation courses are nearly three times more likely to commit the same offence again.

The special schemes, set up four years ago by the Department for Transport, are effective at stopping convicted drivers from taking the wheel when over the limit again, according to a Transport Research Laboratory survey.

Yet despite this success, the report says a quarter of magistrates fail to offer every convicted driver their right to go on a course.
