Explorer Ready To Enter New Territory

Take a look at Ford's new Explorer. The blue oval has released this image of a car with no door handles and huge 21-inch wheels.

It's actually badged the Sport Trac, and is also the first model to be fitted with the firm's Roll Stability Control technology. Set to appear on showroom SUVs next year, this incorporates sensors that detect vehicle motion 150 times a second, and will help the driver keep the car upright in extreme manoeuvres.

The new machine will make its world debut at the Detroit Motor Show next month as
a double-cab pick-up. It's longer and wider than the existing Explorer, while under the bonnet is a powerful 4.6-litre V8 engine.
