Small Rovers Get A Hiding

Struggling Rover is going back to basics to halt sliding sales. The Longbridge firm's revised line-up will hit showrooms in February with improved spec and new pricing.

Leather and wood trim will be standard on the 25 and 45. Three new 25 models will join the fray, with the ΂£8,995 entry-level GLi below the GSi and GXi variants. GLi and GSi trim also appear on the Streetwise on-roader, which features colour co-ordinated interior detailing.

The CityRover gets more kit, while bosses say as much as ΂£1,000 will be slashed off the current ΂£6,495 list price. This year, MG Rover sales hit a 10-year low of just under 120,000 vehicles.
