Future Espace Is A Big Draw

Could this be the next challenger in the space race? It's how Renault sees the Espace MPV looking in 20 years' time - and it's come from the pen of the firm's legendary design boss Patrick Le Quément.

05th January 2005

The man responsible for the current range of striking production cars drew the sketch to mark the end of 2004 - the Espace's 20th anniversary - and provide a glimpse into the future of Renault people carriers.

While the radical image doesn't represent the immediate future of French family motoring, it does provide some intriguing clues about Le Qu΃©ment's thinking. For example, the 'beaky' nose is similar to that seen on both the Wind and Fluence concept cars - which suggests this look could become the maker's new family face. The curved roofline could make production, while other features described by Le Qu΃©ment, but not included on the sketch, are sliding rear doors and angular tail-lamps.
