Kia Defiant After Cerato Test Flop

A retest has been demanded by Kia chiefs, after the US version of the Cerato fared badly in a crash test.

Carried out by America's Insurance Industry for Highway Safety, it rated the small family car as 'poor' in a 40mph frontal off-set impact - the worst result of any vehicle since 2001.

A Kia UK spokesman said: "We are concerned about this result. It is a one-off which contradicts every other test that has been carried out."
