The mag's picture shows how Suzuki has gone for a modern look with the new Grand Vitara, as it bears little resemblance to the current model, which can trace its roots back as far as 1989.
Unlike its predecessor, the newcomer will use a steel monocoque construction and coil springs all round to deliver much more car-like driving characteristics compared to the relatively agricultural set-up of the current model. With keen pricing and generous standard kit, the GV will be aimed at young families.
There are few details at present, but five and seven-seat versions are expected. Three engines are likely - an entry-level 2.0-litre petrol, a common-rail 1.9-litre diesel and an all-new 2.7-litre V6 petrol unit. UK sales are scheduled to start early in 2006.
