3-Series Names Its Price

Prices for the new BMW 3-Series have been announced. The model goes on sale in March, and will initially be available with a choice of three engines.

05th January 2005

The entry-level 2.2-litre 320i replaces the 318i, and is priced at ΂£21,090, a ΂£140 increase over the outgoing model. The 320d is expected to be the most popular variant, and will cost ΂£22,890 as opposed to ΂£22,750 for the current car. Top of the range at launch will be the firm's 258bhp 330i.

It comes with a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine made of lightweight magnesium alloy, and will be priced from ΂£28,450 - up ΂£200. Another six-cylinder derivative - the 2.5-litre 325i - will join the line-up in late April, priced from ΂£25,150.

The biggest rises are on ES-spec models, as the cost of this trim on outgoing cars had been cut in prep- aration for the replacement. The 320i ES is ΂£21,560, while its predecessor was ΂£19,995. All new 3-Series models feature a trip computer, front centre armrest, electric rear windows and a CD player as standard.
