Kiwi Supercar On The Hulme Straight

Not only does it look like a Formula One racer, but the Hulme.F1 is named after a championship winner, too. The New Zealand-built road car is a homage to local hero Denny Hulme, who took the title in 1967, and uses a design similar to that of modern competition machines.

Up front, an aerodynamic nose and large wing incorporate the headlamps, while a rear spoiler and diffuser provide extra downforce for maximum grip. The Hulme.F1 uses the previous-generation BMW M5's 5.0-litre V8 engine. This drives the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox. With 400bhp, the two-seater should be able to sprint from 0-60mph in three seconds and go on to more than 180mph. There is no word on a UK debut as yet.
