Hot XC90 Gets Yellow Fever

Here are some tuned cars that have muscled their way into the mainstream. Following their debut at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas last November, Volvo's hot concepts took pride of place alongside standard models at the LA Motor Show.

Top of the bill was the XC90 V8, which was sporting striking yellow paint instead of its previous red finish. The V8 Power Utility Vehicle produces 650bhp from its 4.4-litre supercharged unit.

While this model is a one-off, Volvo still hasn't ruled out bringing the standard 315bhp eight-pot XC90 to the UK before the end of this year. Volvo also showed off the 340bhp V50 SV concept. A powerful R version of the estate isn't expected before 2006, but UK buyers can replicate the SV's look with the recently added V50 Sport.
