"There are also a few drawings for cars which have been proposed for future Lotus models. But we were never going to give away all our secrets, so the new models seen here are designs we've decided not to go ahead with."
He added that none of the styling cues shown will be carried over on to future machines. However, it's known that designers are still working hard on new cars which will make it into dealerships. The first model likely to appear is a mid-sized coup©, due in 2006 - but it's the next Esprit many enthusiasts will be looking forward to most. The new Lotus flagship will feature a 3.5-litre V6 engine and is said to be pencilled in for a 2007 launch.
