Diesel-based Hybrid Leads Charge...

The hybrid technology, which was previewed at Detroit on a current S-Class, is being co-developed with General Motors. The car's dual-fuel system uses a diesel rather than a petrol motor, combined with electric power.

While the 4.0-litre CDI engine already provides a good mix of performance and economy, when mated to efficient electric motors it will make the Mercedes one of the most fuel-efficient cars of its size.
