Meanwhile, Auto Express has learned of Ford's plans for the two big European motor shows of 2005. At Geneva - only six weeks away - it will unveil the SAV5 concept, a Mondeo-based crossover SUV. It's based on a stretched Focus platform, and will sell for around £1,000 more than a standard Mondeo estate when it goes on sale next spring.
At September's Frankfurt event, the Galaxy replacement will make its debut. Codenamed CD340, the MPV signals a move upmarket for Ford, and will target Renault's Espace. Adaptive cruise control and emergency brake assist are set to feature.
Inside, the newcomer's layout promises to be more flexible than the current Galaxy's, with stowable rear seats highly likely.
