Caravan Crawl Meets A Hitch

Part success, part failure - that's the verdict on a pilot scheme designed to cut congestion on a busy motorway by limiting caravans to the inside lane.

Highways Agency engineers monitored a two-mile section of the M5 near Bristol last summer. Signs at Naish Hill advised towing vehicles to stay to the left. More of them than ever before did - but there was "no significant improvement" in the levels of congestion on the route.
