Baby 4x4 Is On Q, Too

So what else has Audi got in store for SUV fans? The company is also developing a smaller SUV, called the Q5.

This machine will take much of its design and interior layout from the A4, and will be based on the platform of the forthcoming VW Golf SUV. The car was expected to appear in concept form at last month's Detroit Motor Show, but despite rumours circulating around the industry, it never made it to the stand.

Insiders have suggested that Audi made an 11th hour decision not to display the car, as it wants the Q7 to become established as the firm's first-ever SUV before branching out into more niche areas of the market. A production Q5 should debut before the end of 2006.
