We first uncovered the look of the new Evo X back in Issue 814, and the drawing shown here confirms that the designers are sticking to their original idea. Based on the next-generation Lancer platform, the Subaru Impreza rival will deliver all the excitement of the previous nine Evo models.

The X will be powered by a new four-cylinder engine with more than 320bhp and 431Nm of torque - so buyers can look forward to huge performance. An uprated version of the Evo's all-wheel-drive system will also be fitted when the car goes on sale in the UK in 2007.

With Land Rover pushing its Discovery further upmarket, Mitsubishi's next Shogun will be aimed at those wanting a more grass-roots 4x4 with a few creature comforts. Our image reveals the SUV's strong new shape, with chunky wheelarches and an aggressive bonnet line.

Meanwhile, the full-sized MPV is likely to offer space for more than seven. However, company insiders have told Auto Express that it will be produced exclusively for the Japanese market in 2007.

News of the future cars was announced when bosses gave a presentation titled Mitsubishi Motors Revitalisation Plan in Japan. To find out more about what the maker has in store, visit the www.mitsubishi-motors.com website.
