Crash Test Pioneer Dies

The inventor of the crash test dummy, Samuel Alderson, has died at the age of 90. In 1952, his US firm was making fake body parts for use by the military and NASA - when he realised they had motoring safety applications, too. There was little interest in them until the American government passed improved vehicle safety laws.
